PSU professor Carmen Ripollés is uncovering the life and influence of 17th-century painter Josefa de Óbidos, one of the few women artists of the Baroque period to gain fame in her time. Her research and upcoming book project reveal how Óbidos’ art reflected devotion, identity, and creativity in early modern Portugal.
